The client

The National Herald (Ethnikos Kiryx) has been published in New York since 1915 and is the largest Greek-language newspaper in the US, a point of reference for the Greek-American community.
The challenge
All the content of the previous site, across dozens of categories, had to move to the new site and become easy to browse.
At the same time, readers needed to buy an issue or a subscription in a few clicks, and the site had to stay fast on every device despite the volume of content.
The solution
Custom WordPress, built for reading
New UX/UI and a custom WordPress theme, focused on readability, fast navigation between categories and showcasing the day's stories.
All the content, nothing lost
We migrated all the content of the previous site with its categories, so every older article sits where it belongs.
Subscriptions and e-shop
An API connection to the subscription platform lets readers buy an issue or a subscription in a few clicks. An e-shop connected to the ERP handles products, stock and orders.
Page speed close to 100
Connections to ad networks and analytics, and speed optimisation from the front end to the server, for scores close to 100 on desktop and mobile.
Athens and New York
Our teams in Athens and New York ran the project together, in the client's language and time zone.
